For this episode of Kitchen Conversations I visited Hristina Tasheva (b. 1976). Together, we discussed the concept of "soviet idealism", domestic labour and black markets in addition to Hristina’s three latest photo-books that deal with the mental in-between space, the constructed image of a migrant, the fear of foreigners and the Bulgarian identity, amongst others. References: The houses of Hristina' by Suzanne Raes // Letters to my mother (2011) // The woman with the brown hair or me and my informant (2015) // The queen of the animals and the most beautiful gardens (2017) // In belief is power (2019) // The myth of 'low-skilled' migrants - article (2020)
